How to Change the Oil in a 2015 Subaru WRX

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Raise the car.
Drive the car up onto the ramps, so that you have room to get under to the oil pan.
Make sure that when you are on top of the ramps, that you put the car in first gear, and pull up the e-brake.
You can also take two pieces of wood and put them behind the back two tires. -
Step 2: Turn the car off.
, Pull the hood release latch.
It is located under the steering wheel and to the left. , Clean off any excess oil that you see. , When open, don't let anything fall inside. ,, Take the 14mm wrench to unscrew the drain plug.
You don't want to unscrew it with the wrench all the way.
Get it started, and then take it out with your hands.
The oil might be hot, so try not to get any on you. , As you wait for all the oil to drain out, take your drain plug and change the crush washer on it.
You may reuse the old one, but you will risk the chance of a leak. , After all the oil has drained out, you will take the drain plug and screw it back in.
Make sure that to not screw the drain plug in too tight, or too little., You have to first take some of the new oil and spread it around the ring of the filter, and then you can screw the filter back on.
Make sure to not put too much oil. ,,,, Let it run for a little so that the oil can circulate in the engine., After a couple minutes, turn off the car and pull out the dipstick.
Wipe off the dip stick the first time with paper towel, and then place it back in fully, then pull it back out and check if the oil level is correct.
If there is too little oil, you can add small amounts until it is correct. -
Step 3: Open up the hood.

Step 4: Unscrew the oil filter.

Step 5: Unscrew the oil cap.

Step 6: Go under the car with your oil drain pan

Step 7: and place it right under the drain plug.

Step 8: Drain the oil.

Step 9: Change crush washer.

Step 10: Screw drain plug back in.

Step 11: Install your new oil filter.

Step 12: Move the oil cap out of the way and place a clean funnel into it.

Step 13: Pour 5.4 quarts of oil into the funnel.

Step 14: Screw the oil cap back on.

Step 15: Start up the car

Step 16: and drive it down the ramps.

Step 17: Check oil levels.
