  1. Step 1: Right-click the Sounds icon in the system tray (on the right end of the taskbar).

    Windows 7:
    Go to "Organize" menu and select "Folder and search options".

    Then go to the "View" tab and search for the check box saying "Hide extensions for known file types".

    If checked, uncheck it.

    Windows 8:
    Go to "View" menu and select "Folder and search options" (last one).

    Then go to the "View" tab and search for the check-box saying "Hide extensions for known file types".

    If checked, uncheck it. ,,,,,,, Next time when you start your computer, the new sound will play.
