    It is often easier to do this by cutting the watermelon in half first. , Using a large knife, cut a marquise shape out of the watermelon flesh (this is a boat shape that is long and thin with sides that curve gently and end in a point at each end; just like a football).

    Discard the skin; it's no longer needed. , If cut in half, assemble back together again to make a whole. , Cut carefully, so as to leave it assembled as a football. ,,
