How to Test Time Machine for Mac OS X

Step 1: Open up Time Machine Preferences.
This can be found by opening System Preferences and clicking on Time Machine. -
Step 2: Use a backup disk or an internal hard drive.
The hard drive must be formatted to Mac OS Extended (it can be Journaled if you want).
Any other drive won't work.
To check, click on your drive and click File > Get Info (or Command
- I).
If it isn't Mac OS Extended, open Disk Utility, and click on the name of your drive in the sidebar.
Click on the erase tab, and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the popup menu.
Rename the drive to whatever you want and click erase. , Because you have already activated Time Machine, it won't bother with the first time backups. , Check out it's flash UI! -
