  1. Step 1: Choose any one or a combination of the following flowers: Calendula (marigold) Choisya Lily of the valley (Convallaria) Jasmine Sweetpeas Lilies Honeysuckle Stock (matthiola) Paeonies Pansies Philadelphus (mock orange) Rose petals Violas Violets.

    The flowers and leaves will be slowly dried out during the potpourri process, provided you use the right ingredients and old-fashioned method:
    Layer the flowers and leaves in salt.

    Store in a sealed container for two weeks.

    Add herbs, spices and the orris root fixative (2 to 4 tablespoons).

    Seal the mixture and leave to infuse for another six weeks.
  2. Step 2: Choose any of the following herbs (flowers and/or leaves): Chamomile Lavender Lemon balm Apple mint Bergamot Tansy Thyme.

  3. Step 3: Choose any of the following tree parts: Eucalyptus leaves Gumnuts Flowers from the tree.

  4. Step 4: Make the potpourri.
