Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Draw on a 9 x 12 inch piece of watercolor paper

      Have the flower touch the top and bottom edges of the paper.  Make a double lined stem to  create space to fill in with paint. ,  Place the leaves randomly along each side of the stem, touching, in places the sides of the paper.  Curve them for a sense of motion.  The leaves can also be shooting up and radiating from the bottom of the stem.,  Tube colors will allow for better coverage and a greater ease of application.,,  Lightly draw lines to divide the background into six equal pieces, like you would cut a pie.,  Paint behind the flower blossom to fill in the background with the yellow color.,  Repeat with red, violet, blue and green until the entire background is finished.
