Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Log into your cPanel control panel.

    To do this, type your domain name URL in the browser window and add /cpanel to the end, as in yoursite.com/cpanel .
  2. Step 2: Enter your user name and password and press return.

    ,,, Check the SQL option on the radio button. ,,, The database will be saved to your folder after it finishes downloading to your PC; this can take many minutes depending on the size of your database and the speed of your connection to the internet. ,,,,,,,, You are now done with your backup.
  3. Step 3: You may now click on the icon called phpMyAdmin.

  4. Step 4: Click on the Export option in the menu.

  5. Step 5: Review settings in the export box and click to select the name of your Joomla database.

  6. Step 6: Review settings in the save as box and check the save as box and check the zipped radio button.

  7. Step 7: Click the GO button.

  8. Step 8: Use the dialogue that appears to select where you want to save your backup.

  9. Step 9: Backup your files in your public_html folder using the file manager icon from the cpanel front menu.

  10. Step 10: Click on the file manager icon.

  11. Step 11: Locate your public_html folder.

  12. Step 12: Put a check in all the boxes in your list.

  13. Step 13: Click on the compress icon.

  14. Step 14: After files are compressed you will see a new file in your list of files.

  15. Step 15: Select that file and click on the download button.

  16. Step 16: Save this file in the same directory as your database was saved in.
