Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Create a square.

    Make it 18" by 18" and 1 1⁄2 inches (3.8 cm) deep.
  2. Step 2: Use the arc tool to create a curved side.

    ,, The size of it will be however you want the legs of your chair. , Use the Move tool (with CTRL) and create a duplicate of it and put it in place. , Select both of them, use the CTRL and Move tool to create another set so that you have 4 leg components. , If they don't all extend at the same time, you did something wrong. , If it isn't in the right place, use the move tool to place it more precisely. , Triple click to select the component. ,,, If that isn't enough, or too many, change the number until it looks right. ,,,,,,,,
  3. Step 3: Select the seat and make it a group.

  4. Step 4: Draw a rectangle while you're still editing the group.

  5. Step 5: Right click it and make it a component.

  6. Step 6: Create another set.

  7. Step 7: Once in place

  8. Step 8: use the Push/pull tool to give your legs the length they need.

  9. Step 9: Use the circle tool and create a small circle for one of the spindles.

  10. Step 10: Right click and make into a component.

  11. Step 11: Click on the Rotate tool

  12. Step 12: find the center of the front of the chair.

  13. Step 13: Click once there in the center

  14. Step 14: click on the location of your component

  15. Step 15: hold down CTRL and then move to where you want the final component.

  16. Step 16: Without doing anything else

  17. Step 17: type in /5 and Enter.

  18. Step 18: Use the Push/pull tool to adjust them to the proper height.

  19. Step 19: Double click the seat group to edit it and select the arced edge at the back of the chair.

  20. Step 20: Click on the Offset tool and draw an offset line slightly in front of the chair back.

  21. Step 21: Being sure your group is still edited to select

  22. Step 22: connect everything together.

  23. Step 23: Periodically

  24. Step 24: orbit around your screen to make sure that things aren't in the wrong place.

  25. Step 25: Select the offset area that you just created.

  26. Step 26: Click on the Move icon

  27. Step 27: press CTRL and move the copy to the top of the spindleback.
