Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Press the “STAT” button
You will see columns, or lists labeled L1 through L6.
The TI-84 allows you to enter up to six different lists of data sets. -
Step 2: then select “1: Edit.” This menu allows you to enter each value in the data set.
Your values will display in list format in column L1. ,,, If you created multiple lists and want to select a different list, press the number that corresponds with that column.
For example, if you want standard deviation for the values you entered in the L4 column, press the “2nd” button, then press “4.”,, -
Step 3: Type each value of the data set into the “L1” column and press “Enter” after each value.

Step 4: Press the “STAT” button again

Step 5: then use the arrow key to highlight “CALC” at the top of your screen.

Step 6: Select “1: 1-Var Stats” and press “Enter.” You must now select the list of values you entered in step #2.

Step 7: Press the “2nd” button

Step 8: then press “1” to select the L1 column.

Step 9: Press “Enter.” The TI-84 will now display standard deviation calculations for the set of values.

Step 10: Find the standard deviation value next to either “Sx” or “sigma x
