How to Get Downloads Onto the Sims

Step-by-Step Guide

   Step 1: Find something to download from one of the many Sims 2 fan download sites easily found through a Google search for 'Sims 2'.

   Be sure to read any and all disclaimers regarding usage of the files, and check what it is exactly you are downloading, and that it is compatible with your system and game, and that you do not need any other files as well.

   Step 2: Ensure your game is not running

   , If you do not have a Downloads folder, create a new folder called Downloads (Make a New Folder on a Computer). ,, For Example:
   Girls Clothing, Hair, Make Up, Boys Clothing, Houses.... ,

   Step 3: as it will need to be restarted anyway to see the new content you are adding during game play.

   Step 4: After you get your downloads you will likely have to unzip them (unzip a file or folder with winzip)

   Step 5: and extract the .package files to your Sims 2 downloads folder

   Step 6: generally located for Windows XP users here: C:\Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\.

   Step 7: If the files are of the .sims2pack file type

   Step 8: they can be double clicked on

   Step 9: and will install into your game directly.

    Step 10: If you are downloading lots of content

    Step 11: you might wish to organise your files by placing them in folders within the Downloads directory.

    Step 13: you should now see all of your new content in the various locations; new hairstyles under the hairstyles tab in the Create-A-Sim window
