Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Take full control of the weapon system with both hands.

    (Left hand firmly on the hand guard, situated in front of the pistol grip/trigger and behind the barrel.

  2. Step 2: Remember "Safety" is the most important thing to remember when handling not just the SA80

    ,, , (Let's assume you are wearing military type webbing, which is a series of pouches that sits around your waste and carries your ammunition and supplies). ,"

    Your left hand will check that the weapon systems safety catch is at SAFE, Dictated with the letter "S".

    Your left hand will then open the left webbing magazine pouch.

    You then select the magazine in which you intend to load. ,, This is situated between the butt and the pistol grip (Trigger) ,,,,,, "READY!"
  3. Step 3: but any weapon system.

  4. Step 4: With "Safety" in mind

  5. Step 5: point the weapon in a safe direction i.e Down the range or towards your target.

  6. Step 6: If an instructor is present

  7. Step 7: you will hear the words of command "LOAD!"

  8. Step 8: Carry out the following actions.

  9. Step 9: On the word of command "LOAD!

  10. Step 10: Before fitting the magazine to the weapon

  11. Step 11: you must insure that the rounds (Bullets) are inserted correctly to the magazine and that it is free of dirt/dust or any other foreign objects

  12. Step 12: You will then tilt the SA80 over to the right and insert the loaded magazine into the magazine housing.

  13. Step 13: Push the magazine into the housing firmly until you hear a prominent click.

  14. Step 14: Tilt the weapon back to its original position making sure it runs parallel to the ground.

  15. Step 15: Use your left hand to fasten up the magazine pouch

  16. Step 16: this is a very important part of the drill as you don't want to lose the rest of your ammunition.

  17. Step 17: Place your left hand firmly back onto the hand guard.

  18. Step 18: Remember to keep the weapon pointing down the range

  19. Step 19: or a SAFE direction.

  20. Step 20: Wait for the next command.
