Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open Howler and then create a new document.

    Make it any size you want. , It is an easier way for you to identify the various colors. , Do you want it warm...maybe you want a cool color palette.
  2. Step 2: Go to Window+Color+Colors by name....

    They will be Yellow, Red, Blue.

    There are many shades to every color and the shade is what determines the warmth or coolness of the colors. ,, The one used here is 'Thick and wet'. , Color this in at the top third of a circle, as you see in the screenshot. ,,,, You want a color palette, not a brown blob. , This will put it into a small box on your screen. , This is what makes it a palette for your artwork.
  3. Step 3: Make some decisions about how you want your color palette.

  4. Step 4: Choose the the three primary colors.

  5. Step 5: Slide the opacity bar to about halfway.

  6. Step 6: Select a Bristles brush.

  7. Step 7: Start painting in the color that you chose for the yellow.

  8. Step 8: Go with the color of red that you chose and use it to color in the bottom right of the palette.

  9. Step 9: With the color blue

  10. Step 10: fill in the last third of the circle.

  11. Step 11: While you are adding the colors

  12. Step 12: you want to mix them together by coloring on top of the other color

  13. Step 13: back and forth.

  14. Step 14: Be sure that you don't mix them together too thoroughly.

  15. Step 15: Go to Image+Store image copy.

  16. Step 16: Click on the icon in the lower left of the small box.
