Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Assure that the wall is substantial enough to support the sink.

When the sink is level and stationary, mark the wall and floor for the mounting screws. ,,,, If your wall is made of drywall alone, you'll need to install backers.,,,,, If your sink supply tubes are attached with bolts, unscrew them to disconnect the tubes. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Do not glue the stub until the drywall installation is complete. ,,,
  2. Step 2: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the pop-up drain and the faucets.

  3. Step 3: Set the sink onto the pedestal and level it with shims

  4. Step 4: if necessary.

  5. Step 5: Use rubber stoppers to prevent the sink from rocking.

  6. Step 6: Mount the sink and caulk any gaps between it and the pedestal.

  7. Step 7: Install the P-trap assembly and turn the water supply back on.

  8. Step 8: Fill the sink with water and drain it to verify that there are no leaks.

  9. Step 9: Tighten any leaky joints.

  10. Step 10: Cut off the water supply at the main shutoff valve.

  11. Step 11: Drain the hot and cold water lines into a bucket.

  12. Step 12: Unscrew the mounting nuts that secure the trap to the bottom of the existing sink.

  13. Step 13: Remove the trap by pulling it down.

  14. Step 14: Slice through the water supply tubes using a hacksaw or a tubing cutter.

  15. Step 15: Lift the existing sink out and remove the cabinet.

  16. Step 16: Examine the placement of the supply and drain pipes once the sink is removed.

  17. Step 17: Place the new sink and loosely install the faucet

  18. Step 18: drain and trap.

  19. Step 19: Measure from the floor to the drain and determine the best place to conceal the water supply valves.

  20. Step 20: Relocate the pipes by removing a section of the wall covering.

  21. Step 21: Make sure you remove enough to accommodate the pipes as well as a wood panel to cover them.

  22. Step 22: Use a keyhole saw to cut the wall and tilt the blade downward to keep it shallow.

  23. Step 23: Mark the locations of the repositioned pipes along the wall stud.

  24. Step 24: Indicate the center of the new sink on the bottom plate.

  25. Step 25: Use a reciprocating saw to slice through the pipes.

  26. Step 26: Connect the additional pipes with transition couplings.

  27. Step 27: Assure that the transition couplings and the existing pipes are the same size in diameter.

  28. Step 28: Connect the 1 1/2 inch (3.81 cm) drainage pipe to a PVC elbow using the transition coupling.

  29. Step 29: Tighten the clamps with a pipe wrench.

  30. Step 30: Route the PVC pipes so that the drain opening is centered over the marks on the bottom plate.

  31. Step 31: Assure that the drains are properly placed and at the right height before permanently attaching them.

  32. Step 32: Prime the ends

  33. Step 33: and the inside

  34. Step 34: of the fittings.

  35. Step 35: Apply PVC adhesive to the primed areas and assemble the joints.

  36. Step 36: Allow the adhesive to set for approximately 45 seconds before you let go of it.

  37. Step 37: Finish the drain assembly by flexing the PVC just enough to allow for the last length of pipe.

  38. Step 38: Cut the drain stub so that the drain adaptor will be flush against the wall.

  39. Step 39: Attach the copper pipes by soldering them

  40. Step 40: leaving enough excess to verify that there are no leaks.

  41. Step 41: Install the shutoff valves after the wall covering is complete.

  42. Step 42: Install the valves

  43. Step 43: drain stub and mounting for the sink.
