Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Buy a new pack of strings or get the single string you have broken from your local music store.

    Proceeding to the next step before doing this will result in the string under tension flying out of the saddle lock at high velocity.

    We don't want to put an eye out here! ,, They are small and hard to find if you drop them. ,,,, (see warnings) ,, NOTE strings A&D have slightly more tension than the other strings.) ,, If it does go to the next step.

    If not, remove the tremolo cover plate on the back of the guitar using a small Philips screwdriver.

    With a larger Philips screwdriver tighten or loosen the 2 screws anchoring the metal clip that the anchor the springs.

    If you change string gauges you will need to repeat this step every time. ,,,,,
  2. Step 2: Get your guitar.

  3. Step 3: Loosen the locking nut(s)by using an Allen wrench

  4. Step 4: it is important to not use anything else but an Allen wrench (see warnings)

  5. Step 5: IMPORTANT - If the string is not broken loosen it with the main tuners.

  6. Step 6: Loosen the saddle lock (at the back end of the bridge) using an Allen wrench.

  7. Step 7: Remove broken string

  8. Step 8: careful not to lose the hardened metal piece that holds the string in place at the bridge.

  9. Step 9: Open your new string(s).

  10. Step 10: Use a wire cutter to cut off the ball end of the string so that all you have is just string

  11. Step 11: not the ball or that twisted part near the ball.

  12. Step 12: Fit the string into the saddle lock.

  13. Step 13: Tighten the bridge saddle with your Allen wrench

  14. Step 14: but not too tight.

  15. Step 15: Thread the string through corresponding near the head and wind around peg as much as possible before inserting string through the peg

  16. Step 16: Bring the string to tension (I just check tension as relative to the other strings by pulling on the new string and checking movement.

  17. Step 17: Tune it with the main tuners.

  18. Step 18: Looking at the guitar sideways take note if the angle of the tremolo plate runs parallel to top of the body.

  19. Step 19: Tighten the locking nut bolt(s)

  20. Step 20: Fine tune it

  21. Step 21: SHRED!

  22. Step 22: After a while you will want to loosen the neck nut(s) and tune up string again before screwing the fine tuner all the way in

  23. Step 23: SHRED!
