Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Remove old riempies and tacks using cutter and tack remover.

    Wipe with cloth along its length to remove excess water. ,,,,, This prevents the riempie from becoming loose and sagging. , Once it has been threaded down through the opposite hole, pull it taut, remove the forceps from its first position and insert in the new position. , Leave enough that you are still able to pull the riempie taut. ,
  2. Step 2: Clean any grime that settled under the old riempies.

  3. Step 3: Remove riempie that has been soaking.

  4. Step 4: Remove Prestik from tapered end.

  5. Step 5: Thread riempie through first hole (from underneath of chair) leaving about 1–2 centimeter (0.4–0.8 in) underneath.

  6. Step 6: Turn chair over and secure end of riempie to the chair frame using an upholstery tack and the hammer.

  7. Step 7: Thread riempie through hole opposite the first one (from top of frame down).

  8. Step 8: Pull the riempie as taut as you can and secure it in place by inserting forceps or nail in the hole together with the riempie.

  9. Step 9: Thread the riempie up through the next hole then across to the opposite side.

  10. Step 10: Continue in this way until the riempie is used up.

  11. Step 11: Turn the chair over

  12. Step 12: secure the end with a tack and cut off any excess riempie.
