   Step 1: Move them somewhere where the barf is easier to clean

   Alternate this with softer strokes to soothe the cat, and say something in a soothing tone while you do this., Keep patting them as in #2., If it is getting more and more intense, they're probably about to barf.
   
   Set them down and pat them reassuringly., They have no more control over vomiting than a human does.
   
   They're feeling sick, so be sympathetic., You will probably hear some soft burbling sounds in their throat or stomach.
   
   Keep patting them until this settles down.
