Step 1: Find the image that you want to use.
In this image, a bunch of flowers were used. -
Step 2: Open up Gimp.
,, You can use either your ellipse or rectangular option for making a selection. , It is a fairly small one in the lower left of your Gimp screen.
The red is the mask. , Go to Filters >> and anything underneath and experiment with different ways of changing the mask. , You can delete it now, fill it with color, or whatever else you want to do. ,, Be sure the background color is what you want. ,, -
Step 3: Open up the image you selected in Gimp.

Step 4: Make a selection.

Step 5: Click on the QuickMask icon.

Step 6: Start experimenting with the mask (the red part).

Step 7: Click on the QuickMask icon (which is now red) to see the changes that the mask made to the selection.

Step 8: Go to Select >> Invert to invert the selection.

Step 9: Go to Edit >> Fill with BG color.

Step 10: Go to Select >> None (or CTRL + Shift A) to deselect the image.

Step 11: Save in the chosen format.
