Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open Inkscape and select the ellipse icon.

    Create a circle.

    You don't have to be exact, you will be changing its measurements.

    Make sure that the stroke is turned off. ,, This will make 4 copies.,, Don't worry if it doesn't look quite right.

    That will be fixed., This will open up that particular dialog box.,,,, If you don't see it, go to View >> Show/Hide >> Snap Controls Bar and check it.,, Also, be sure that the shape is set to None., Do this will all of the circles, all the way around., This is what it should look like at this point. ,, Go to the upper left portion of your project, click and hold on the left mouse button.

    Go to the lower right so that all of the nodes are selected., This will round out your bowling pin. ,,, Move it over away from the circles used to shape it.
  2. Step 2: Change the width and height (W and H) to 70.

  4. Step 4: press CTRL D 4 times.

  5. Step 5: Make the other circles to fit these dimension: 52 * 130 136 * 184 80 * 40 58 * 14

  6. Step 6: Line them up vertically so that they are touching

  7. Step 7: but not overlapping.

  8. Step 8: Go to Object >> Align and Distribute (CTRL + Shift + A).

  9. Step 9: Holding down the Shift key

  10. Step 10: select all of the ellipses.

  11. Step 11: Select the 'Center on vertical axis' option in the Align and Distribute box.

  12. Step 12: Be sure that your snapping tool is set.

  13. Step 13: On the Snap Controls Bar

  14. Step 14: enable snapping.

  15. Step 15: Select 'Snap nodes or handles' and 'Snap to cusp nodes'.

  16. Step 16: Select the Bezier tool

  17. Step 17: and make sure that the tool for creating regular bezier path is selected.

  18. Step 18: Start at the top and click where you see the X that appears.

  19. Step 19: When complete

  20. Step 20: click on the first selection.

  21. Step 21: Once complete

  22. Step 22: press F2 (edit mode option).

  23. Step 23: Select all of the nodes.

  24. Step 24: Click on the 'Make selected nodes smooth' icon.

  25. Step 25: Click on the Enable Snapping icon so that it is no longer enabled.

  26. Step 26: Click off of the bowling pin to deselect everything

  27. Step 27: then click on the top center node and bring it down

  28. Step 28: just a small amount.

  29. Step 29: Press F1 and then select the outline you have just created.
