Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Download and install Avisynth.

    Let it update if it asks you.

    When asked which presets to import select "x264:
    Unrestricted (DXVA)
    - 2-pass" for video and "LAME MP3:
    MP3-128ABR" for audio. ,, Use 30 fps.

    For 1080p HD YouTube requires the video to have a minimum width of
    1920. 720p requires
    1280. ,,,, Continue until you have the complete demo in VirtualDub , Make sure the video doesn't exceed the maximum length of 10 minutes for YouTube videos. ,,,,,,,,, Higher is better. ,,,,,,
  2. Step 2: Download and install MeGui.

  3. Step 3: Download and extract VirtualDub.

  4. Step 4: Capture a Quake Live demo with Fraps (www.fraps.com).

  5. Step 5: Start VirtualDub by opening VirtualDub.exe.

  6. Step 6: Select "Direct stream copy" from the Video menu.

  7. Step 7: Select "Open video file..." from the File menu and open the first segment of the video files you recorded with Fraps.

  8. Step 8: Select "Append AVI segment..." from the File menu and open the second part of the files you recorded with Fraps.

  9. Step 9: Cut away unnecessary parts of the video by marking them on the navigation bar and pressing DEL.

  10. Step 10: Select "Save as AVI..." from the File menu and save the video.

  11. Step 11: Start MeGUI Modern Media Encoder.

  12. Step 12: Select "AVS Script Creator" from the Tools menu and choose the video file you created with VirtualDub as Video Input.

  13. Step 13: Click "Save"

  14. Step 14: Select "x264: Unrestricted (DXVA) - 2-pass" as Encoder settings.

  15. Step 15: Choose the video file you created with VirtualDub as Audio Input.

  16. Step 16: Select "LAME MP3: MP3-128ABR" as Encoder settings.

  17. Step 17: Click "AutoEncode"

  18. Step 18: Enter the Bitrate you wish to use.

  19. Step 19: Click "Queue"

  20. Step 20: Select "Yes" if it asks you whether you want it to add ConvertToYV12() at the end of the script.

  21. Step 21: Go to the Queue tab

  22. Step 22: Click Start.

  23. Step 23: Wait until the video is done encoding.

  24. Step 24: Upload the encoded video to Youtube
