Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open notepad by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad.

    Vista and 7 users can just type "notepad"

    without quotes, into the start menu and hit enter.
  2. Step 2: Copy the following code: @echo off dir/s pause

    , REMEMBER! Save the file to C: otherwise it won't be as spectacular as it will only list the files in that folder and sub-folders.

    To do this see "Tips".

    Type "anything.bat" into file name and click "Save"

    You should see the file saved in your C: drive. ,,,, You should see every file listed on the C: drive in random order going very fast in a Command Prompt window.
  3. Step 3: Go to File> Save As Change the "Save as type" box to "All Files".

  4. Step 4: Open "Computer" and double click C:.

  5. Step 5: Right click the file and select Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut).

  6. Step 6: Or you can go to the C: drive and run the program from your C: drive if you do not like to have a lot of icons on your desktop.

  7. Step 7: Minimize all the windows and click on the shortcut.
