Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Open up the box base.

    Each spaced approximately
    0.5 inch (1 cm) from each other.There will be five lines, two on either side of the center line. , The "grain" should lie perpendicular to the grain of the lid (it's stronger that way) and the bottom edge should line up with the outermost scored lines. ,,,,,,,,,, You can now make the handle.
  2. Step 2: Find the center line of the box base.You can either fold it in half or use a ruler.

  3. Step 3: Mark and score the center line and two lines on either side of it.

  4. Step 4: Align the inner shell on the box base.

  5. Step 5: Trace the inner layer's pattern onto the box bottom.

  6. Step 6: Measure and mark 0.5 inch(1 cm) away from the outline of the inner shell and the go all the way around.

  7. Step 7: Add a 3 inch (6 cm) flap to each side of the pattern.

  8. Step 8: Cut along the outer lines.

  9. Step 9: Score along the fold lines and cut narrow wedges at the edges of any flaps.

  10. Step 10: Tape the small flaps down securely.

  11. Step 11: Fold the "outer" cardboard like a taco and tape the short edges securely

  12. Step 12: leaving the long edge(s) open.

  13. Step 13: Place the inner layer inside the outer shell.

  14. Step 14: Tape the inner box to the inside of the outer box.

  15. Step 15: Slide your laptop inside.
