Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Make a new folder.

    If you already have one prepared, skip this step.
  2. Step 2: Take a screenshot of any part of your desktop using and then dragging to form an area.

    , Now here's where it gets complicated. ,, It will select the entire picture. , This will select the blank space where the picture used to be. , You can now exit out of Preview. ,, Click on this.

    It should be highlighted in blue. , There will no longer be an icon visible, and the folder will disappear from your desktop. ,,,
  3. Step 3: Open this picture up in preview.

  4. Step 4: Open up the toolbar in Preview and select the 'Instant Alpha' function.

  5. Step 5: Click and drag with Instant Alpha on until the entire picture is red

  6. Step 6: then release.

  7. Step 7: Press delete and then once you can no longer see the picture

  8. Step 8: type .

  9. Step 9: Type to copy that area.

  10. Step 10: Right click on the folder you just made / had and select Get Info.

  11. Step 11: In the top left hand corner there will be a Folder Icon.

  12. Step 12: Now (with the icon selected) type to paste the blank picture in.

  13. Step 13: Now all you have to do is rename the folder (highlight the folder and press Enter) to several spaces (press the spacebar a couple times) and there will be no trace of it on your desktop.

  14. Step 14: The only thing you have left to do is to left click and drag your mouse over the vicinity that the folder was in

  15. Step 15: drag the folder over to a corner of your desktop where you hardly put files

  16. Step 16: and then deselect it.

  17. Step 17: When you want to open it again

  18. Step 18: just select the vicinity again and double click the area where the name of the folder would be.
