Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Gather together all your paper US savings bonds.

    It'll be just underneath the TreasuryDirect icon.

    Create a "Conversion Linked" account, using the page that results.

    Click the "Create Account" button to verify that you want to create a conversion account. ,,, You will need the bonds' series type (E, EE, or I), the serial number, face value amount and the issue date (two-digit month and four-digit year, which may appear as a two-digit year in some cases).

  7. Step 7: Follow the process and enter the requested information.

  8. Step 8: Click "Submit to Cart" to submit each bond to the cart.

  9. Step 9: Repeat this last step until all your bonds have been successfully entered.

  10. Step 10: Click the "View Cart" button.

  11. Step 11: Click the "Create a Manifest" button.

  12. Step 12: Verify that you really want to do this

  13. Step 13: for security purposes.

  14. Step 14: Print a copy of the manifest.

  15. Step 15: Sign the document that you printed.

  16. Step 16: Mail the document along with the unsigned bond(s) to the Treasury Department at the address below and wait for three-to-four weeks for the conversion to take place.
