Anantapur, July 25: In a major initiative to promote girls’ education and reduce school dropouts, Discover Ananthapuram and the AGS Foundation today launched “Wheels of Hope,” a programme dedicated to providing free bicycles to government school girls who travel long distances to attend school.

The programme was inaugurated at Sharada Girls High School, 1st Road, Anantapur, where 22 bicycles were distributed to students in the first phase of the initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Discover Ananthapuram Founder A.G. Anil Kumar and AGS Foundation representative A.G. Prameelamma said that Wheels of Hope is a natural extension of their 14-year-long commitment to supporting education. Through their educational initiatives, including the distribution of notebooks and other learning materials, the organizations have been reaching thousands of government school students across 21 villages.

They announced that the newly launched programme has set an ambitious target of distributing 1,000 bicycles to deserving government school girls in the coming months.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Kumar said that transportation continues to be one of the biggest barriers preventing many girls from pursuing their education.

> “No girl should be forced to discontinue her education because commuting to school is difficult. A bicycle is not just a mode of transport—it is a vehicle of hope, independence and opportunity. Through *Wheels of Hope*, we want to ensure that every girl can reach school with dignity and confidence.”

A.G. Prameelamma said that many girls in rural areas walk several kilometres every day to attend school, often resulting in absenteeism and, in some cases, dropping out altogether. She expressed confidence that the initiative would improve attendance, reduce travel hardships and encourage more girls to complete their education.

Teachers, students and parents welcomed the initiative and appreciated the organizations for addressing a genuine challenge faced by many government school students. They said the bicycles would save valuable time, reduce physical strain and motivate the girls to continue their studies.

With the launch of Wheels of Hope, Discover Ananthapuram and the AGS Foundation have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that no girl is deprived of education because of the difficulty of reaching school. The organizations also appealed to the public and philanthropists to support the mission and help expand the programme so that hundreds more girls can benefit in the months ahead.
