Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1: Place the fish in the holding tank.

    If the fish attempts to swim away, wait until it stops responding to pressure.

  4. Step 4: Have an assistant hold the fish upside down with the tail facing in your direction.

  5. Step 5: Grasp the peduncle of the fish at the base of the tail fin with one hand and hold it so that the body of the fish is straight.

  6. Step 6: Position the needle with the other hand so that the needle is aimed at the axial ventral peduncle

  8. Step 8: Tilt the needle so that the needle is at a 45 degree angle from the peduncle.
