    Remove from the heat. , Set aside briefly. , Add the jeera.

    After it crackles, add onion and fry till translucent. , Fry for 4 to 5 minutes, till soft. ,, Cover the lid and let it cook till the dal is half cooked. , Cook till the vegetables are tender. , Once dal and vegetables are done, add the dry masala powder and mix it nicely. , This is an optional addition. , Garnish the finished dish with coriander leaves and serve hot over brown/white/steamed rice.
